Who We AreBeaver Memorial UMC was built in 1890 and stands tall in the heart of Lewisburg. The church was named in memory of Rev. Peter Beaver, who was ordained in 1909 by Methodist Episcopal Bishop Francis Asbury. Rev. Beaver was also the grandfather of former Pennsylvania Governor, James Beaver, for which Penn State's ‘Beaver Stadium’ is named.
On May 17, 1998, Beaver Memorial voted to become a Reconciling Congregation, joining a movement within The United Methodist Church that works for full inclusion of LGBTQIA+ persons. We were the first congregation in the (then Central PA) Conference to do so. Today, Beaver Memorial continues to be an active United Methodist congregation and seeks to be an inclusive community where all feel welcomed, are encouraged to grow in their faith and work to bring about positive change both locally and around the world. We invite you to join us in living out this commitment to love all of God’s children and the entire creation! We encourage you to learn more about our church. |
