Reverend Sue Jamison
The Rev. Sue Jamison was born in Indiana, PA, whose claim to fame is being the birthplace of Jimmy Stewart. She was active in her home church and was 10 years old when the Methodist Church and the Evangelical United Brethren Church merged in 1968 to become The United Methodist Church. As a teenager, she served on the Indiana District Youth Council and the Western PA Conference Youth Council and was elected and served as President of the Conference Youth Council her senior year in high school. This gave her some unique opportunities to see how the denomination functioned at the Conference level. She graduated from Indiana Senior High School in 1976, the Bi-Centennial Year of the birth of our country.
She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Divinity degree from Wesley Theological Seminary, Washington D.C. During those years, she served as a member of The United Methodist delegation to the National Council of the Churches of Christ, expanding her understanding of not only The United Methodist Church, but other member denominations. This also exposed her to some very wonderful role models of leadership by women of faith.
She was ordained an Elder in 1987. She has served churches in Elkland/Osceola, Shamokin Dam, and outside of Sunbury (Mt. Pleasant & Klinesgrove), and worked for one year with 10 churches in the Cowanesque Valley on issues of social justice. In addition to parish ministry, she has worked as a counselor, a parent educator, and a behavioral specialist. She is an active member of the Susquehanna Conference Care Team, and for many years facilitated workshops on the prevention of sexual misconduct with those beginning their service as pastors in local churches.
In 2006, she began working for Albright Care Services, as the Director of the Annual Fund and Community Relations. Albright is a multi-site non-profit organization serving senior adults and is historically affiliated with The UMC in this region. It also became an appointment to an Extension Ministry position and she chose Beaver Memorial UMC as her local church connection. At Albright, she was responsible for coordinating special fundraising events whose proceeds went toward the charitable and benevolent care provided by Albright and was also the liaison for many community groups, churches and businesses who supported this mission across central Pennsylvania. In 2020, Albright affiliated with Asbury Communities, a similar multi-site non-profit organization, and she became an Asbury Foundation employee for two years.
Rev. Jamison is a member of the Lewisburg Sunrise Rotary Club, served on the board of the Campus Theatre in Lewisburg for 6 years, and volunteers with the Lewisburg Arts Council and Transitions of PA.
Rev. Jamison has two children. Her daughter, Rachel, has a PhD in Nuclear Engineering and Engineering Physics and lives in San Francisco, CA. She recently left a tenured faculty position at UC Berkeley, and is now a Partner at DCVC, for their Climate Fund investing. Her son, Jared, has a BS in Mechanical Engineering, and lives in San Jose, CA. He currently works as an assistant construction manager for Habitat for Humanity based in the East Bay/Silicon Valley.
On Nov. 16, 2022, Rev. Jamison married Rev. Kevin Witt. They have known each other since high school. Rev. Witt is on the staff of the Susquehanna Conference as the Director of Camping & Retreat, The Beloved Community, and Age Level Ministries. Rev. Witt has one daughter, Briana, who lives in New Orleans and is a chef.
